FOOTBALL Jacksonville Jaguar Named LuclogsSelmon outside linebackers coach. Los Angeles Rams Announced they have reached an agreement to move the franchise to St. Louis, pend ing NFL approval and named Stan Kroenke as a minority owner.

New York Jets Retained running backs coach Johnny Roland. COLLEGE McNease State Named Leonard Fawcett track and field coach. Vanderbllt Named Ron Aikmen assistant football coach. RACING HOCKEY From wire dispatches Pete Sampras avoided the pitfalls that snared other big names and breezed into the third round of the Australian Open in Melbourne today. As the sun broke through early afternoon clouds, Sampras raced through a 6-2, 6-0, 6-1 victory over young Slova-kian qualifier Jan Kroslak in 76 minutes.

It came a day after former champion Boris Becker was upset. The No. 3 seed lost to Patrick McEnroe, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4), in the first round. It was McEnroe's biggest win over a seeded player in a Grand Slam event. Women's No.

5 Gabriela Sabatini also lost yesterday 6-4, 6-4 to American Marianne Werdel Witmeyer. Sabatini hurt her back and lay face down on courtside while a trainer massaged her for several minutes during an injury timeout midway through the second set. Other seeds moved on. Men's No. 7 Michael Stich beat Alex O'Brien, 6-0, 6-3, 6-4, and No.

9 Jim Courier, a two-time champion, defeated Cristiano Caratti, 6-2, 6-2, 6-1. Women's No. 2 Conchita Martinez defeated Veron-ika Martinek, 6-1, 6-3; No. 3 Jana Novotna downed Patricia Hy-Boulias, 6-2, 3-6, 6-0; No. 6 Lindsay Davenport beat Wiltrud Probst, 6-2, 6-2; and No.

7 Ki-miko Date took Elena Likhovtseva, 6-2, 6-2. Martina Hingis, the 14-year-old Swiss playing her first Grand Slam tournament, lost in the second round to Kyoko Nagatsuka, 6-3, 6-4. Naoko Sawamatsu won her first-round match today, then wept for her best friend believed to be a victim of the devastating earthquake in Japan. Baseball Dave Kingman and Rod Carew were the biggest winners in the second award of collusion damages, which totaled $9,708,756. Kingman was awarded $829,850 by arbitrator Thomas Roberts for 1987 and Carew was awarded $782,036 for 1986, according to the Jan.

10 decision by Roberts, which was obtained yesterday by The Associated Press. These decisions were for lost jobs in 1986 and 1987, loss of mobility in both years and other damages for 1987, which include emotional distress and licensing money. Union head Donald Fehr has accused acting commissioner Bud Selig of lying to Congress about baseball's broken-off bargaining. "I have been advised that in your lobbying efforts on and off of Capitol Hill, you and other owners have been telling people, particularly members of Congress, that the players association is refusing to return to the bargaining table in an attempt to negotiate a resolution of our dispute," Fehr wrote Selig in a letter made public. "As you well know, that is false.

The owners walked out, not the players." Pitcher Oil Can Boyd identified himself as the first prominent replacement player. The 35-year-old righthander agreed to a contract with the Chicago White Sox. Colleges Connecticut replaced season-long leader Tennessee atop the AP women's basketball poll a day after beating the Lady Vols, 77-66. Tennessee is second, Penn State 10th. Drastic cuts in scholarships and recruiting visits have inflicted excessive damage to Mississippi's football program, the school says in its appeal of NCAA penalties.

The school is seeking relief from having scholarships cut in half and is fighting an NCAA charge that improper offers were made to a former recruit. Virginia will play Michigan in the preseason Pigskin Classic at Michigan Stadium on Aug. 26. Hockey West View native Bob Beers, a New York Islanders defenseman, will be out at least two months with broken bones in his face and an eye injury. Beers, 27, was struck by a puck during practice Monday night.

Yachting Pact 95's Young America defeated the all-women America3 by 3 minutes, 32 seconds on the defender course in the America's Cup trials in San Diego. Young America earned its second victory in as many races over the women. Steven Cotton, a crewman for Tag Heuer, lost two fingers during the final leg when his left hand was caught between a rope and winch. He was taken by speedboat to a hospital, but doctors still don't know if the severed index and middle fingers can be reattached. TODAY ON TV RADIO COLLEGE MEN'S BASKETBALL 7 p.m. Pitt at Villanova; Cable TV: ESPN; Radio: WTAE-AM (1250) NAMES AND GAMES Birds of a feather do fight together From wire dispatches Temple's Owl and St. Joseph's Hawk may have wanted to fly south for the winter after trading blows in a game Sunday. The mascots got their feathers ruffled when their hi-jinks during a timeout got out of hand and turned ugly, forcing security guards and cheerleaders to intervene. The squawking began when the Owl glided onto the court with cheerleaders and met the Hawk.

They exchanged good-natured taunts, then began throwing phony punches that somehow escalated into the real thing. The Hawk got his beak bent out of shape, literally, when the Owl hit him too hard and knocked his head off. The headless Hawk proceeded to knock the Owl off his perch, delivering a flurry of solid hits before the fight was broken up. It was mindful of what happened at the Civic Arena about 10 years ago, when members of a Duquesne fraternity assaulted the Hawk, precipitating a near-brawl when St. Joseph's players flocked into the fray.

He'll flip over this First it was a jersey. Now it's money. Joe Greene, renowned for tossing his Steelers shirt to a kid in a 1970s commercial, will be one of four members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame to participate in the ceremonial coin toss before the Super Bowl game Jan. 29. The former defensive tackle will represent the NFL's 75th Anniversary All-Time team along with Otto Graham, Ray Nitschke, and Gale Sayers.

I had a two-story, house, a BMW and a nanny for my kids."
