1-1204 A are Herb Silvers, Henry Morgan Age Decimates Congregation Even without a permanent home, the fervor of the New Light Congregation burns brighter than ever today. Its membership spread thin by the passing years, it has been forced to leave the 53-year old synagogue at 79-81 Roberts St. in the Hill District. But as the last of the Torahs Holy Scrolls and other religious articles were carted away to storage, leaders looked to the future and another permanent home. Seeks New Members Already revitalized by the acceptance of some 75 new and young members during the last year, the congregation plans to continue seeking additional members before, deciding its next step.

Only five of the original 125 members who broke ground in the Hill in 1902 remain today. One of these, Irving Sand, more generally known as Major Sand, directed moving operations yesterday as the edifice was turned over to members of the New Canaan Baptist Church I Other Founders I Others instrumental in giving birth to the congregation at the turn of the century and still active today include William Sigman, Harry Freidman, Sam Goldberg and Morris Kohen. The New Light, or Oher Chodosh, sprang from a Romanian settlement in the Hill. It flourished for many years, but fell toll of the ever-changing Hill. Four years ago it found Itself without a resident rabbi.

Services'" Continued Meetings and worship services continued, however, right through last Saturday with the older members conducting them. But the move became necessary because the synagogue no longer was conveniently located. New members are mainly children of the founders and others through the years who actively participated in the congregation. Meeting to Be Held All who have passed on are buried in the congregational cemetery in Millvale. Temporarily meetings will be held at the home of Samuel Hyman, of Squirrel Hill, the honorary president.

Samuel Haimovitz is president. While plans for a new synagogue are determined, the con Miserable with SIDNEY-BLADDER IRREGULARITIES? RHEUMATIC-ARTHRITIC PAIN?
