BASKET RACE AT LONDON Five out of the original 63 Scotch miners who were entombed in a flooded mine at Kedding, near Falkirk, Scotland, have been rescued after having lived underground for nine days with nothing but water and half a slice of bread. Three other men signalled that they were still alive. The disaster occured September 25, when a flood of water entrapped 63 men. Twenty-one were saved the same day from an old shaft. After nine days of searching rescue men heard voices in the distance and the rescue resulted.
